New trip Report: Rhode Island

Here’s a short report of a few hours I spent looking for mammals in Rhode Island last weekend.   Ten species, including Meadow Jumping Mice, Southern Red-backed Vole, Southern Bog Lemming and what I think was a New England Cottontail (grateful for other’s views on what flavour of rabbit this is).

That’s definitely unusual. I’ve been there many times: it is a good place, but seeing so many species in two days is totally abnormal for eastern USA. I’ll try to get there in June – hopefully will catch some dry weather. The cottontail looks like NE to me, too.
