I spent just 24 hours in Alaska and travelled on the ferry from Haines to Skagway in early June 2006 (this was a part of a trip around the Canadian Yukon). I saw a few Harbour Seals, but not the alledgedly common Dall's Porpoise nor the Mountain Goats that are often seen as the ship comes in to Skagway.
