Cheryl Antonucci started working as a veterinarian in 1997. She splits her work between emergency and critical care for companion animals, and as the head vet for the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia. The zoo has an extensive collection of mammals including Pygmy Hippos, Red River Hogs, a diverse collection of primates, Bongos and African Clawless Otters.

She have been working with exotic mammals since she was 20 with her highlights including  california sea lions, Pallas’s Cats, Aardvarks and Western Lowland Gorillas.
Cheryl’s mammalwatching travels have taken her to 73 countries and all continents. Her life list (as of May 2021) is 752.
Originally from outside Boston, Massachusetts, she lives in Richmond, Virginia with three cats and one human primate.
