Alaska Trip Report

Scott Flamands is back from Alaska and saw 25 species of mammals including a Lynx, which remain in prolific proportions in Denali NP… but presumably not for much longer.

    Oddly enough I was in Nome in July this year and also found a very dead headless walrus on the beach.

    I also swear I might be the first naturalist to visit Alaska for 2 weeks and NEVER see a bear…

I spent 4 weeks in Alaska in June 1980 — admittedly mostly on far offshore islands that do not have bears [Attu, St. Lawrence] — but also visited Nome and Denali and saw no bears. I need another trip.
