2010 in review

WordPress sent me this information on this blog that might be of interest to those of you who post. It is beginning to generate some traffic which is good and I’m personally very pleased to see a few people are starting to use it for advice on species identfication as well as RFIs for countries, sites etc. But please do spread the word – this isn’t really meant to be a blog, but it is meant to be a forum which we can all use to share information and ask questions.

I got back from Madagascar yesterday – great trip with 42 different mammals in less than 2 weeks and nearly all of them new for me. A report will come soon. In the meantime happy new year to all of you

This website really has become an incredible source of info for mammalwatchers, whose numbers can only grow as more info becomes available.

I got to hang out with John Fox last week, and finally add Southern Flying Squirrel to my lifelist in DC, something which would not have happened without the website.

Thanks Morgan. Its absolutely the case that birders have so much information and so many networks to turn to. Mammal watchers don’t . So I hope this site helps fill the gap. It is starting to work in the USA at least but I hope its will broaden its reach. Meanwhile I am going to DC next weekend … poor John is going to get sick of looking at those Flying Squirrels!

    John,
Yes, the website has become a great resource. Thank you for creating it!
Have you considered linking short information bits that appear here in the Forum part to corresponding country chapters? As they slide down, they become difficult to find.

Thanks Vladimir – that is a very good idea and something I will start doing more of (occasionally I think I have done this but will trawl through the blog and do some more). Meantime if there are any particular entries you remember that ought to be linked to the site please let me know

      Jon
