The “bat” pic looks like Diadem Roundleaf (Hipposideros diadema) and the “snake” as Brown/Red-tailed Racer (Gonyosoma oxycephalum).

    Extremely nice!
I read the company’s recap of the same trip. I think any trip where you get to see clouded Leopard and sun bear is amazingly exceptional. Well done.

Yes that is definitely a Diadema. Also how certain are you that you saw a Smooth-coated rather than Small-clawed Otter? It is hard to tell from the picture but it looks quite small to be a Smooth-Coated? Good work on the Leopard and the Bear!

Very good stuff. Sun Bear+Clouded Leopard in a trip!
But concerning the security there is a curfew all along the coast due to an increasing number of kidnappings. It is apparently not possible to arrange a night tour on the Kinabatangan River.

Wow, what an awesome two weeks Janco! We have a similar itinerary with AA Borneo in a few months and I will be happy if I see half of what you saw :).

Regarding the safety in Sabah that Brugiere mentioned, here is a report that seems to sum things up. It seems like the situation should be much better. It also seems that all the incidents were at sea so hopefully nothing has changed on the river regarding night cruises: https://www.borneoecotours.com/travel-info/advisory.php
