ID request
Hi everyone
During a trip done in Botswana & Zambia in August 2025, we came accross two mammals for which I’d like to get your opinion about the species we actually observed.
For the mongoose we observed at night in South Luangwa, I have doubt between a Bushy tailed or Meller’s mongoose. What do you think? And I have no idea on which mouse came to visit us one day inside our tent in the Okavango Delta.

Hi Samuel, the mongoose is a bushy tailed mongoose. The Meller’s mongoose has white and brown fur in the tail. The mouse looks like one of the larger species of Mus but I’m not sure which one.
