Interesting report Greg as I think we have looked at the same lynx last week :). I think you looked through the spotting scope of my friend. You certainly timed it well as I had found the lynx only two minutes before the first car stopped and asked what we were looking at. I think you arrived more or less at the same time. I had walked a bit up the opposing slope of where the lynx was to gain a bit of altitude so I could find it back which caused the guide of the first car immediately to threaten with police because of ‘chasing the lynx’ as you mentioned. This got a bit on my bad side as the lynx was on the opposing slope and to me nothing indicated that this particular piece of land was off limits. Also they would not have seen a thing if we hadn’t found it in the first place. However we made up after they had seen the lynx as well and he explained that there are many problems caused by over eager photographers. I think Andújar has gotten a bit too crowded in any case with lynx watchers which puts a bit more tenstion on everything. Afterwards we found the lynx again a bit down the road, but didn’t get a good look anymore. Later I heard that they had seen it crossing the road from one of the regular view points and it went down into the valley.

You did well skipping the Wednesday as there were no lynx sightings then at Gato Clavo. We were there on Thursday which was also a day with no sightings. We finally got a close look on Friday evening when it showed up at the last minute. Awful weather indeed!

Lennart, the mammal watching world continues to get smaller! I wish we had been able to formally connect and meet while standing in the road watching the lynx! I’m glad you were able to diffuse the situation with the unhappy guide and leave on good terms.
