White-phase Black Bears
This is a link to an interesting slide show on the white-color-phase black bears that roam the Canadian temperate rainforest of British Columbia. Also called “spirit bears” or “Kermode bears”, this unusual color phase is only found in this part of its range.
Have you ever seen photos of the blue phase? We’ll try in August to get to Yakutat area where it is supposed to occur, but there’s almost no info on it available.
There is a good book, “The Blue Bear” by Lynn Schooler, you should check out. It is about the author’s attempts to photograph blue-phase black bears. It’s a good story, too.
I would be interested to hear how your trip goes.

It is gorgeous to see the beautiful side of life, we are animals anyway.
