In November 2019 Royle Safaris ran our first Rare Andean Mammals Tour to Ecuador, focusing on Bellavista and Cayambe Coca National Park for 10 days. We found evidence of a 20 species of mammals including Andean tapirs, Spectacled bears (the highlight being 2 bears cooperatively hunting and chasing an Andean tapir), Stump-tailed porcupine, Olinguito, Tayra and a very rare and cool sighting of a Colocolo (depending on your chosen taxonomy either a subspecies or form of Pampas cat or a distinct species specialised for the paramo and cloud forests).
