Now following the September 2024 updated taxonomy. Latest: October 2025: A ridiculous number of new mammals in Indonesia largely thanks to Carlos Bocos.... I am expecting I will end up with around 60 lifers once we have id'd them all but have just added 45 confirmed species for now including Togian Babyrusa, Sunda Pangolin, Pygmy Tarsier and Masked Flying Fox; August 2025: 3 new species in Spain thanks to Carlos Bocos; Banded Linsang in Thailand and several bats including Spot-winged Fruit Bat; July 2025; Western Tarsier and four new bats in Sabah; June 2025: Barbados Myotis; 8 new species in SE China including Eastern Forest and Amur Hedgehogs and Asian and Northern Hog Badgers; Japanese Badger (in Tokyo) plus Japanese Pika and Sato's Beaked Whale in Hokkaido; May 2025: Hall's Pocket Gopher in the Texas Panhandle; April 2025: 4 species of mole rats in Romania & Bulgaria plus Bi-colored White-toothed Shrew, Martino's Mole & Harting's Vole; March 2025: Common Sword-nosed Bat, Yucatan Vesper Rat and Yucatan Cottontail in Mexico; January 2025: Robinson's Banded Langur and two horseshoe bats in Thailand; . Previous years' highlights include Vaquita, Giant Pangolin, Giant Armadillo, Giant Panda, Pygmy Hippo, Liberian Mongoose, Bactrian Camel and Western Long-beaked Echidna.
