Project start up advice… The brown hyena (Hyaena brunnea, formerly Parahyaena brunnea), also called strandwolf.

I am wondering if you can advise. I have been a volunteer at a reserve in South Africa for the past three years.
I am extremely interested in their Brown Hyena population. They unfortunately do not have the time/funds to look further into them. My interest is to the point where I would love to start a research project on Brown Hyenas there. I have read and spent countless hours looking at research on them in southern Africa.
I will be honest, I do not have a degree. However, I have an amazing passion for wildlife and especially these brown hyena, in a closed reserve. I’m wanting to look at predator kill relations/prey and eventually the genetic diversity.
I have put together a proposal, gathered previous research information… I would just need advice from a scientist before i give the proposal to the reserve.
Any advice or direction would be highly appreciated ❤️
