Advertising: South Africa’s Specialities with mammalwatching, November 2027
I will be returning to South Africa in November 2027 to run an exciting tour in search of many of South Africa’s rarest and least known mammals. This 12 day tour will take in the Kalahari Desert, the Karoo and the Garden Route in search of as many species as we can find. Some highlight target species include Brown Hyena, Honey Badger, Aardvark and Aardwolf, along with lesser known mammals including several molerat and golden mole species, rock elephant shrews and much more along with most of the South African classics. We will also have chances for some megas that we will be actively looking for including Black-footed Cat and – the holy grail – African Striped Weasel.
When we get back to Capetown you can join a three day extension tour to Namibia primarily to see the other holy grail – Ground Pangolin – along with an interesting set of smaller mammals and a visit to a superb bat cave.
The main trip will run November 7 – 18, 2027 with the extension running November 18 – 21, 2027.
The price is $8500 per person for the main tour and $3500 for the extension. This a small group tour: just 6 in the group plus me and a local guide. The accommodation and food should be excellent. The scenery will be stunning.
