Latest Observations & previous highlights

Some of my all-time wildlife highlights include the incredible aye-aye, wolverine, beluga whale, honey badger, Baird's tapir, sloth bear, brown hyena, Iberian lynx and eastern mountain gorilla. Another unforgettable experience was encountering a huge pack of African wild dogs! One very special encounter was with Nyango, the only known captive Cross River gorilla at the time. Although I prefer seeing wildlife in its natural habitat, she deserves a special mention — especially since she nearly broke my wrist while I was cleaning her enclosure! My most recent additions to my mammal life list include my first bobcat in Florida, a stump-tailed porcupine in Colombia and the magnificent Iberian lynx in southern Spain. And despite having travelled all over the world in search of wildlife, there are still two mammals much closer to home that I'd absolutely love to see: the Eurasian otter and the European pine marten, right here in the Netherlands!
