Dubai transit – mammals or malls?

I recently had a work trip to Dubai and wanted to hire a guide for a one day tour but the guides mentioned on MW trip reports were no longer available. I have also transited through Dubai many times and never thought of it as a stop over for mammal watching but there are lifers up for grabs in even a short time. A locally based bird photographer and guide (Gary Burns) is available for either dawn or dusk tours to a couple of places that he has negotiated private access.  The Al Marmoom conservation area and a neighbouring privately owned reserve has unfenced herds of Arabian sand gazelles, Arabian oryx and Arabian gazelles. By night we added Cheeseman’s gerbil, Lesser Egyptian jerboa and Arabian hare (L. capensis arabicus).  Gary can be contacted on WhatsApp +971504582780  or email : garyburns000@gmail.com
