    Amazing report, Yonatan!!
Very lucky with the tapir sighting and mountain coati sighting..!
Now you have mountain coati, but I have the oncilla 😉 We’ll each have to catch up.. I’ll definitely go to Ecuador at some point, but it will be more focused on mountain coati and pacarana ;-P

The black agoutis you photographed do look like proper black agouti.. even though the IUCN doesn’t list them as occurring there. But in all fairness, in San Isidro it also doesn’t list Central American agouti – so this is more likely a range extension of the former. Unlike the black agoutis of Montezuma rainforest lodge in Colombia which are 100% all Central American agoutis. And same with Parque Chicaque outside of Bogota, I think.

    Anyway, really great stuff!
    Cheers!

Thank you! and good luck with the Pacarana – it hasn’t been seen in Mashpi-Amagusa since 2023!
The Mountain Coati seemed reliable though – both in Mashpi-Amagusa and Las Cotingas in Mindo.

Great report from a fantastic mammalwatching-country.
Nice to see that the bats are still in the abandoned house and that you can still survive without crashing thru the floor 🙂
