Identification of deer NW Argentina

On a trip in Northwest Argentina (north of Salta) we observed a deer which we at first thought to be a Red or Brown Brocket. When I showed the photos to a birdguide a few days later he suggested it to be a northern Huemul because the antlers on the animal are too long for a Brocket.  We are not sure of this, ao because the haibtat seems not right for it (rocky and shrubs). We have included a photo. Could you please help us with the identification?

Kind regards,
