India and Bhutan 2026 Trip Report

Avijit Sarkel (Vana Safaris) and I spent 16 days traveling in India and Bhutan in April and May of 2026 to do some scouting. We started in Guwahati, India, and headed to Manas National Park, where we spent 3 nights exploring the eastern and central areas of the park. We then headed north, crossing into Bhutan at Samdrup Jhonkar. From there we slowly made our way west to Paro, stopping in Yongkola, Khaling, Chumay, Punakha, and Tsirang along the way. This trip report is bird heavy, but I promise there are some mammals in there. We found 303 bird species and 19 mammals during the trip.
