New Podcast: The Next Generation

Ellen Linton waiting for a Camas Pocket Gopher at the Oregon Zoo

In this month’s episode, Charles and I turn the podcast over to three of the youngest mammalwatchers we know: Ellen Linton (20), Bruno Kovacs Gomez (16) and Moses Swanson-Mwamasika (15).

In a lively chat the three share stories about their passion, why they love it and what their friends and family think. We hear stories about pizza with a Caracal in South Africa; close encounters with pouched rats in Zimbabwe; and a quest for a Golden Jackal in Hungary. The next generation also offer advice on how to encourage friends to join a trip. So press play if you want to learn how to sneakily turn a road trip with your bestie into a pocket gopher safari or are contemplating more extreme measures …

Moses Swanson-Mwamasika takes a break from chasing rodents

The podcast starts with ‘notes from the field’ from Jannico Kelk and Nicolas Rakotopare, recorded live in Darjeeling moments after a spectacular Red Panda encounter.

Thank you so much to Jon and Charles for having me. I enjoyed very much doing the episode with Moses, Ellen and you all. Also my english is not as good as the rest of you, i still think this was a 10/10 overall episode. I think i know now what being a mammalwatcher celebrity must feel like ;).
PS: You must only do the kidnapping method under serious circumstances (for example: forcing four of your friends in to a van and taking them to see bears 🙂 )

🤣🤣🤣 glad you have cleared up the whole kidnapping issue Bruno! Was so much fun talking to the three of you. Thanks again

It was a pleasure to host you and the others, Bruno. And your English is excellent. If you really want a laugh you should listen to Jon and I trying to speak French…
