Paraguay 2025

Mostly a birding trip report, but we did spend a significant amount of time searching for mammals! Highlights include 2 Geoffreys Cats, 3 Jaguarundi, 1 Puma, 1 Jaguar, 9 South American Tapir & 4 species of Armadillo. Travelled all across Paraguay, including Chaco, Atlantic Forest and Cerrado.

I was born in 1994 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. I have been fascinated by the natural world since I was five, and I was given an ‘I-Spy Birds’ book for my summer holidays. From there my passion really kicked, especially during my three years living at Spurn Bird Observatory on the Yorkshire coast, once I graduated from university. It became a second home to me and refined my interest, and I now assist with record keeping for the observatory. I absolutely love seeing new species, so took my first trip abroad in 2016. Nowadays I seem to spend most of my time in the Neotropics. It’s quite the change of scenery from Northern England.
