Question on ( Gray Fox) in Southern Florida

Hi everyone!

We’re planning a family trip to the Everglades area in April 2026.

On past national park trips, I’ve had great experiences staying at “wildlife-friendly” Airbnbs—places where animals  show up in the backyard. I know mammal watching in the Everglades itself is generally tough these days, so I’m wondering if areas a bit further north (west of Miami) might be better.

Based on iNaturalist data, there seem to be more gray fox sightings west of Miami compared to Homestead. But I’m not sure if the chances are high enough to justify choosing our accommodation based on that.

Does anyone have experience with this area? Would you recommend a particular location that might offer decent backyard mammal activity?

Thanks!
