Sichuan – Christmas 2024…. anyone interested?

Serow, Capricornis sumatraensis. Tangjihae

I’ve been meaning to return to Sichuan for a few years and Ian Thompson’s recent report has fired my enthusiasm more than ever.

If you are interested in joining a mammalwatching small group tour (4 or 5 people) for about one week over Christmas this year let me know (you can write to me here).

I’m still working on the itinerary with Sid Francis but some of the key target species will include Eastern Red Panda, Chinese Mountain Cat, Asian and Hog Badgers, Chindwin Flying Squirrel and Forest Musk Deer. Other nice species which are quite likely include Golden Takin, Chinese Goral, Chinese Serow, Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys plus a chance for Giant Panda too.

I will almost certainly go on to spend a second week somewhere in Asia: maybe in Yunnan for primates or maybe another country … but more on that later.

Things are still in the early stages of planning but if you are interested in joining please get in touch and I can let you know more details soon.
