Southwestern Brazil, 2024 – Northern Pantanal and Emas National Park

This trip has been one of my most remarkable wildlife holidays yet, with some truly memorable (and sometimes unexpected!) observations.

We saw a total of 27 mammal species and over 130 bird species during the 2 weeks we were there, we thoroughly enjoyed all our game drives, the self-service buffets, and the hospitality, honesty, and friendliness of all Brazilians we met. A self-driving holiday in the Mato Grosso and Goias states is definitely possible due to overall good road conditions and a general feeling of public safety. We highly recommend this destination for mammal enthusiasts!

Hello friend Detlief, I was very happy with your post and admire your art. The incredible drawings of the Guará wolf and the Canindé macaw were impressive. Last week I guided a family from Sweden who had the material you produced in print. They were eager to meet the Guará wolf that happened on the first day of our night tour!! They went to the North Pantanal. I hope to see you again one day, who knows so that you know the phenomenon of bioluminescence, until then, I wish you good inspirations.
