Thailand Guide and Binturong Advice?

Hi everyone,

I will be in Bangkok in February and wanted to do a relatively short side trip to look for Binturong. I know there are reports of Binturong relatively close to Bangkok in Khao Yai National Park. Does anyone have any info they can share on seeing Binturong in this area (or elsewhere starting from Bangkok)? Are the chances decent with a good guide or is it a long shot?

Also – if anyone has a recommendation for a good local guide operating from Bangkok that would be fantastic.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Andrew. Fruiting figs in Khao Yai used to give you a reasonable chance for Binturong. I don’t remember if anyone sees them in Kaeng Krachan which is a bit closer to Bangkok and a great park. For guiding talk to Wild Encounter Thailand. I can give you the details if you cannot find them.
