Whale ID suggestions

Hi all,

I just observed a medium sized whale off Malua Bay, NSW. The animal was very distant and only observed briefly surfacing to breathe, with 2 relatively low sprays about 20 seconds apart. It appeared to have a curved, dolphin-like dorsal fin but I wouldn’t trust my assessment on that. As far as I’m aware this is the wrong season for the main local species, so I’d be interested to know if anyone has any ideas as to what it could have been (unfortunately only seen through the scope, so no photos).

Definitely not much to go off, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
