Latest Observations & previous highlights

I got the latest lifer on 23.2.2026. I was walking about 5 km in the old-growth forests east of Valkeakoski, in Kaskelankorpi, Finland, when suddenly a shrew — well under the size of a matchbox and with a tail about 2 cm long — appeared on the path right at my feet! The Eurasian least shrew stayed still for about 20 seconds before vanishing like lightning into a hole in the ground.

In addition to these 105 species, I have seen the footprints of Common Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) as well as some unidentified bats, mice, and voles in different parts of world.
