If you want to see a number of ground squirrel species in the West, you really have to come in the spring. About this time each year, they start to disappear again, back underground:

I submitted this post. In Idaho, we actually don’t have gray squirrels. Eastern fox squirrels have been introduced to Boise and many other Idaho towns, but they are all the usual gray color with orange-tinged underbelly.
