Reminder: The 2027 Antarctica Mammalwatching Cruise
Hello everyone from Hokkaido where, after a nerve-wracking few days of bard weather, we finally got the conditions we needed to see the mythical Sato’s Beaked Whale yesterday. I’m in Japan on a trip with some of the world’s top cetacean experts: Bob Pitman, his wife Lisa Ballance, and Todd Pusser. Sato’s Beaked Whale was Bob’s 94th cetacean species! He now has just 6 left to see and is on his way now to get one of them. Quite incredible given how difficult many of these species are to find and correctly identify.
Bob, Lisa and Todd are fabulous story tellers (check out Bob’s episode on the mammalwatching podcast) and while we waited for the weather to clear there was a lot of talk about adventures including many from Antarctica.
I wanted to remind you all, and let new subscribers know, about this trip in January 2027 with Naturetrek. It seems to be filling up quite quickly. So if you are interested in visiting one of the world’s great destinations in the company of mammalwatchers then look no further!
