Have you ever seen an African striped weasel?
Hello,
I started a research project this year at the University of Pretoria on the distribution, behaviour, and general ecology of African striped weasels (Poecilogale albinucha). They are such elusive animals and rarely seen, that every single occurrence record is super valuable; to get an idea of their distribution and habitat preferences.
I’ve seen two live ones minutes apart from each other one night on a stretch of dirt road on the South African West Coast, between the towns of Redelinghuys and Aurora, and another road-killed individual near the town of Nuwerus.
Have you ever seen one? And if so, can you please send me more info and details of your striped weasel sightings, either by commenting on this post or to the project email address (africanstripedweasel@gmail.com)?
Many thanks,
Kyle
