Black Giant Squirrel and other mammals in Jianfengling, Hainan

Hey Mammalwatching community,

My name is Sunny Zhang and I am currently planning for my birding trip to Jianfengling National Nature Reserve in Hainan, China.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on which species are relatively easier or harder to find than others?

Some of the mammal that I’d like to see in Jianfengling are:

  • Black Giant Squirrel
  • Northern Treeshrew
  • Northern Palm Civet
  • Asian Red-cheeked Squirrel
  • Hainan Giant Flying Squirrel

If anyone has any suggestions on which ones here might be tougher to come across or if anyone has any other suggested mammal species not on my list but are worth looking for, please let me know!  Thank you!
