Coming Soon: The Podcast Returns, an Updated Taxonomy, and the NUTTER Awards
Hello everyone. With just 6 weeks left in 2025 there are still some major mammalian milestones to look forward to which I wanted to share.
The Podcast Returns on December 1
A couple of people have asked about the next episode of the mammalwatching podcast. The October podcast episode marked the end of Season 3. But, as you might expect from professionals like Charles Foley and me, we only decided that the season had finished after the October episode came out. Long story! But if Game of Thrones can end like it did then so can we. But Season 4 returns already on 1 December and the opening episode will be a blow by blow – and mammal by mammal – account of our September expedition to Sulawesi. Spoiler alert: it was a mammal bonanza.
Updated Mammal Checklist
If you don’t have any trips to look forward to this year then fear not, you can hopefully get a few new mammals on your lifelist with the latest updates to the global mammal checklist. This one has been kinder to my mammal list than recent updates and it should be out in the next few days.
The NUTTER Awards
And last, don’t forget – as if you could – that we will be voting on the annual NUTTER Awards early next year. Only reports published this year will be eligible. So if you are trying to finish off a half-written trip report then now is the time!
