Ethiopia – Dibatag & Walia Ibex Expedition, January 2027 – participants wanted

I am looking for 2–3 fellow mammalwatchers to join a privately organised trip to Ethiopia in January 2027.

The main part will be an 8-day expedition into the remote Ogaden Plateau, with several days around Gurdume specifically searching for Dibatag and Silver Dik-dik, alongside Günther’s Dik-dik, Lesser Kudu, Speke’s Gundi, Rufous Sengi and other regional mammals and birds. This is a genuine expedition involving basic mobile camping and a substantial local support team.

Beforehand, there is an optional 3–4 day extension to the Simien Mountains, primarily targeting Walia Ibex, with Gelada and other highland mammals.

Dates: approximately 15–27 January 2027, depending on participation in the Simien extension.
Group: maximum 4 participants. Costs are shared, so I am looking for 2–3 people to join me.

Please email me at “jonaslivet (at) gmail (dot) com” if interested and I can send the detailed itinerary, costs and logistics.
