Mkomazi NP, Tanzanire
I am getting into the planning of an independent trip to Tanzania next year. One of the sites I am considering is Mkomazi. Anyone been there and got any thoughts on the chances here of gerenuk, lesser kudu and oryx?
Thanks in advance

Thanks. If you do go back I’d love to know how you do and if you can recommend any particular areas.

Hi Steve, as Tom mentioned, both the lesser kudu and the oryx are pretty easy to find in mkomazi. Try the Kavateta and Kavakota areas for both. Gerenuk are a bit harder but you should see them on a two or three day trip.

Thanks Charles. Do you think it’s likely to be a better bet for gerenuk than the Enduimet WMA site that you recommend. It certainly has the advantage of being very much en-route for the other sites we are visiing.

I was in Mkomazi NP 2 weeks ago….but only for 1 night (20 hours). Did not see gerenuk (but they must be there). Saw two adult male lesser kudu at two sites. Lots of fringed-eared oryx. I hope to go back soon for a few full days. Enjoy!
