The Weekly Recap
Hello and welcome back to the weekly recap! Today is the very first Global Mammal Big Day, so if you see any mammals today then record the sighting on Observation.org. The goal is to make the joint list as long as possible! And before my dad makes some rude comment, no, your children do not count. Trust me- if they did, he would be a lot more interested in my brother and me.
The past week started off with this trip report from the Pantanal by Dave Griswold, where he saw many Giant Otters (some of which look like they were performing a synchronised swimming routine), South American Tapir, Crab-eating Fox and seven gorgeous Jaguars!
Next was Mark Hows’ Mediterranean Monk Seal Odyssey, the search for which always seems to become an epic quest – and by the second day he was successful. He also saw a Brown Hare and Black Rat while he was at it.
This report by John Dixon from a Soaring Expeditions trip to Mongolia is a very entertaining read (I love the list of characters at the start) and full of great species such as Pallas’ Cat, Corsac Fox, Muskrat and Mongolian Jerboa. If that’s not enough to convince you to read it, then let me add that the title is “Never Mind the Snowcocks”.
The final trip report shared was this brief one from Borneo by “Mammalman”: a two week trip with Naturetrek, it includes Western Tarsier, Binturong, Bornean Orangutan and not one, but two Marbled Cats!
Lastly, John who has just moved to Malaga is looking for some fellow lunati- I mean wildlife enthusiasts to go on mammal outings with:)

Thanks for reading:)
