Trip report from Paro Bhutan

Wild boars are indeed present in Bhutan. They can be found in various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and agricultural areas. In Bhutan, they can sometimes pose a challenge to farmers due to crop damage, leading to conflicts between humans and wild boars. However, they also play a significant ecological role in the ecosystem.

Observing wildlife in the dry Rocky Mountains between Chonzom and Tachog in Paro is a fascinating experience always and I sighted a wild boar in agriculture field near Tachog Monastery yesterday (05/05/2024).

So far I have been sighting Himalayan Goral, Himalayan Black bear, Grey Langur, Wild boar and Assamese Macaque in different seasons. I observed each one has unique adaptations to survive in the rugged terrain of the Himalayas. Those are impressive sighting in different seasons.  The barren landscape makes it easier to spot mammals.

Bhutan is a tiny hidden Himalayan Kingdom lies between China and India, China in north and India in south. Bhutan is a home for over 130 Tigers and Snow Leopards, Golden Langur,  Black-necked Crane, Rufous-necked Hornbill,  and critically endangered White-bellied Heron and many more Himalayan native species. Elevation starts from 150m above sea level in south and over 7,500 m in north.  Bhutan is still maintaining 72% of forest coverage and more than 55% of land under protected areas. There are 5 major National Parks, four Wildlife Sanctuaries and one Strict Nature reserve.
