Where to go before Nepal : any advices ?
Hi everyone,
I am really happy to be a member of the mammalwatching community.
My first reports will come soon !
I will be in Nepal between February 8-20th 2027.
It will be my second time there, and I will join a local conservation NGO focused on small mammals.
We will visit Langtang NP and Chitwan NP. The main focus is more about visiting conservation area and research projects, although I hope to watch some awesome mammals.
During my first visit, I was unable to see tigers, bears, nor wild elephants (but a lot of rhinos in Chitwan !).
Here is my question : I don’t want to go from France to Nepal just for two weeks.
I want to add somewhere else in my trip, and I have time during the end of january.
Would you recommend me to visit eastern Nepal in search for red pandas, or Koshi Tappu area for example ?
Or, I could also include a stop in India. It could be Assam and Sikkim, but I think that would be quite similar to the Nepalese Terai.
Could it be Laddakh, in search for the snow leopards ?
Or around New Dehli ?
So, I have a lot of potential ideas, I am looking for help to decide !
Where could you recommend me to spend two weeks before my trip in Nepal ?
I haven’t been to any other asian countries yet.
Thanks a lot !
I attached a proof of my first encounter with Indian rhinos in Chitwan.
