Trip Report – North & South Luangwa National Park Safari – Royle Safaris – Oct / Nov 2024

Royle Safaris ran a private tour to Zambia for a couple of clients who had been to Zambia before but wanted to try and get views of the elephants as they walk through the lobby of the Mfuwe Lodge to feed on the fruiting trees the lodge was built around. This meant travelling in October / November as this is the fruiting season and so we went and visited the famous lodge, but before we got there we decided to visit other locations in Zambia.

By visiting a remote bush camp in the wonderful and rarely visited North Luangwa National Park and combining it with two different lodges in South Luangwa National Park we were able to see 40 species of mammals including wild dogs, many leopards and all of the commonly seen big game species. In addition we were lucky to come across some nice rarer species such as Noack’s African dormouse, Sharpe’s grysbok, Bushy-tailed mongoose and Miombo genets.

This type of safari may not be the ‘normal’ trip which Royle Safaris is more known for, but we run many general wildlife watching trips and safaris throughout Africa and the rest of the world, as well as our very specialist mammalwatching trips that we are perhaps more famous Royle Safaris. So for anyone wishing to spend any time on safari, whether looking for common species or very endangered and elusive species we recommend contacting us for more information and seeing what options we have available.
