Looking for advice – best places in Europe to see bat roosts

Hi all,

I’ve come to ask Mammalwatching for advice, since I’m a bit overwhelmed by my efforts to do own research. I’ve always liked bats, and since I was able to see my first few species on roosts, that kind of became an obsession. It’s usually not hard to find bats in the tropics, but it’s a different story in Europe. Therefore – what are the best areas for finding roosting bats in Europe? Especially interested in non-cave roosting species, but tips on good cave areas are also welcome. Contacts of bat scientists who do guiding are also appreciated, or just direct me to the suitable reports in the site.

    The best way is to check the trip reports here for the countries you’re planning to visit. For example, there are some great non-cave roosts in Spain

      I’ve checked some of the reports from e.g. France, but there’s a lot of countries to look through. So I was thought, maybe people will share their top areas, like in that one post on where to see world’s whales.
