Asking for a non-mammalwatching friend: Contact for Habre’s Nest Panda program?

Hi everyone!

I have a non-mammalwatcher friend from work who will be in Nepal, and who dreams of seeing a red panda.

I told him people go out to Habre’s nest and see them, but we couldn’t find any specific contact information (email or WhatsApp).
We saw that they have a website, but it doesn’t seem to work..?

So I’d be happy for any contacts 🙂

Also – as a non-mammalwatcher – how long do you guys think he needs to be there to actually see at least 1 panda?

Cheers!

Tomer

Hi Tomer. 4 days there seems to be a minimum duration to have good chances to come back with a sighting

The contact i have is info@forestdwellers.org, last time i asked they said minimum 5 nights but they had packages up to 9 nights. Good luck!

    I saw one in Langtang.
    Pros:
    – it’s a 4 hour drive from Kathmandu
    – it’s more wild than Habre’s Nest from what I’ve heard. At Habre’s they have lots of trackers looking for them but in Langtang it’s just you and your guide(s). The guiding is great and the local tracker is a wizard
    Cons:
    – It’s more work to find them but with 3/4 nights you’d have a really good chance. And personally I think it’s more gratifying if you have to work for it

I went in April with Tiger Encounter. Whatsapp Ghanshyam on +977 985 1192795. He’s super responsive and helpful
