Southern Bog Lemming video
Hi, I figured I would short a couple of video clips of a Southern Bog Lemming I filmed in the yard of my family’s vacation house in Saluda, North Carolina in the southern Appalachian mountains. I was working on cleaning up after Hurricane Helene, and noticed this charming little creature eating ferns and other bits of vegetation.
It was unafraid of me – you can see it scoot alongside me (the little boogers can really move when they want to). The garden hose in the second video is a small narrow hose – the little Bog Lemming was tiny – first I have ever seen well. Fortunately it allowed a little iPhone video.

PS I did not post these on the Mammalwatching Instagram page because it will be a cold day in Hades before I ever have anything to do with a Facebook entity.

It’s so round it looks like it could just roll down hills.
