Trip Report – Western Sahara Mammalwatching Tour – Royle Safaris – March 2023

Royle Safaris ran two mammalwatching tours in spring 2023 to the Western Sahara, both were successful and this is the trip report from the second tour. The first has been published on the site for a while now and can be found here  . This trip saw several fennec foxes, a family of sand cats which were approached close on foot as well as African golden wolf, Ruppell’s fox and several rodent species (one of our clients brought along some Sherman traps) as well as desert hedgehog and Sahara hares.

This trip saw 17 species of mammals as well as 54 species of birds which is very successful for this habitat.

We will be running at least one trip in spring 2024 on 12th March – 19th March 2024 and we have 3 places still available for any interested people. We are currently looking at the same itinerary as is detailed on the trip report to be lead by Martin Royle along with local guides.  If you would like to join the trip and search for fennec foxes, sand cats, Libyan striped polecats and many other species then please get in touch (info@royle-safaris.co.uk) for more info.
