Can Anyone Help with some Mammalwatching Social Media?
Hello all,
I’ve come to the conclusion that my social media skills (and available time) are not able to do justice to the mammalwatching stories we should be telling. This will come as no surprise to anyone who follows my Instagram feed @mammal.watching.
True, there are several pretty slick reels up there. But Katy Hall did those and now she is allegedly “too busy” studying for her final exams. I have no idea where this embarrassing work ethic comes from. It isn’t from me.
So I am posting to ask whether anyone out there is an Instagram fiend and might be able to help produce a handful reels over the next few weeks. I am particularly keen to tell stories of the new and lost species we keep seem to be stumbling onto on recent trips. The Pygmy Triok/Possum in West Papua is top of my list. But then there is the Ethiopian Genet in Djibouti, a bunch of stuff in Sulawesi last year and another 5 or so species last week in Guatemala too. Mammalwatching has real potential to help with many more discoveries worldwide by running trips in collaboration with local researchers. And there is so much still to be discovered!
So if anyone has skills, energy and time … or knows a student who wants to add “Managed Social Media for a Major Conservation Organisation” 🙂 to their CV … then I would love to hear from you! In the US I am told that this kind of work can lead to college credits so I will be more than happy to talk to anyone’s professor too about that.
Thank you!
Jon
