The Weekly Recap

Hello, welcome to the weekly recap!

This week’s first report is Andy Millar’s from a trip to Turkey with a few cool species like Caucasian Squirrel, Wild Boar and Badgers!

Next is Gabriel Smith’s from Dermakot, Borneo with some classic sightings like Malayan Porcupine, Sunda Leopard Cat and Borneo Stink Badger. The report is also super enthusiastic and fun to read, so probably a good way to balance out the tone of these recaps.

And lastly is Yonathan Perez’s report from Ecuador with amazing photos of Andean Bears, Mountain Tapir, Kinkajou, Mountain Coati and 13 other mammal species.

There are two new trips being advertised which may be of interest: Thailand in November, led by Jirayu Ekkul and my dad, to find nocturnal rarities like Mainland Clouded Leopard and Large-spotted Civet, has just one spot available (preferably a woman who wants to share a room). South Africa in August 2027 with Sustain Safaris for species like Pangolin, Aardwolf and Black Rhino has 6 spots available still!

Coke Smith will be in Argentina next month and would love some advice or contacts to find Commerson’s Dolphins off Puerto Madryn or Piramides.

Finally, Jonatan Den Haan is looking for an internship as part of his Mammal Ecology and Conservation Master’s and is wondering if any conservationists on the website would be a good fit. He’d be doing things like habitat suitability mapping and population data analysis based on camera trap footage or any other data you’ve collected, as well as field photography for your websites etc. Check out this post if you’re interested!
