The Weekly Recap

Hello and welcome back to the weekly recap!

To start us off this week is Coke Smith’s trip report from Paraguay. As always it is full of useful information and gorgeous photos of mammals, nature and interesting parts of Paraguay.

Next is the report of a Royle Safaris rare primate trip to Laos and Vietnam: 20 mammal species and all their targets, including Lao Langur, Northern Pygmy Slow Loris and Northern White-cheeked Gibbon.

They have also shared this report of their tour of Western Sahara, with some amazing Sand Cat sightings as well as Fennec Fox and African Golden Wolf.

Jan Schaefer has shared his first ever a trip report, from Costa Rica! It sounded like a great trip, with great photos and 17 mammals including Northern Ghost Bat, Northern Tamandua and Brown-throated Sloth.

Marc Bozon has posted another Big Cat Year update, this time from Colombia, where he saw the beautiful Northern Tiger Cat.

This trip report from the West Scottish Highlands by Gary Meaney features some cool species like Harbour Seal, Common Dolphin and what was likely a Soprano Pipistrelle.

And last but not least is Kyle Finn’s report from Hong Kong, where he saw 14 mammals like Masked Palm Civet, Sharp-toothed Ferret Badger and the pretty Indochinese Humpback Dolphin.

If you want to join a trip yourself, my dad will be travelling to Panama in July with mammal celebrity Jose Gabriel Martinez. Some possible species will be Long-tailed Singing Mouse, Bang’s Mountain Squirrel, Harris’s Rice Rat and they will be heading to what is probably the best location for Northern Oncilla!

There is a new weekly addition to the mammalwatching world: the Community Spotlight, brought to you by Ellen Linton. It will be a way to celebrate mammalwatchers and their achievements big or small, while keeping us up to date on what is happening in the community. This week’s spotlight is on… Birding Encounters! Dun dun dun. Read the post to find out more (if you dare). I hope it’s about conversion strategies…
