WATCHING LEMURS IN THE EASTERN PART OF MADAGASCAR
This is our third visit to Madagascar. We are focusing mainly on lemurs in areas we didn’t visit on previous trips, or where we didn’t see certain species back then. The areas are Masoala. Tôlanaro. Lac Alaotra and around Andasibe. We were quite successful with 24 species of lemur seen. Yes, that is (much) lower than in a number of other reports on this website. But… given our way of traveling (relaxed, just specific areas, no thermal scope), that is perfectly logical.

Thanks a lot for the report !
Many areas of Madagascar don’t look so difficult to reach without a guide, but you were brave enough to try it even during hard times for the country, you were rewarded !You give us some very good news about the roads condition, if the south become more accessible, I like it.
Same for lake Aloatra, I never thought it was so “close” to the capital. But the situation there seems very worrying for the conservation of lemurs…When you write about the very variable quality of guides, I can relate. We enjoyed our time with Etienne in Andasibe !
