The Weekly Recap
Hello and welcome back to the weekly recap!
Starting us off this week is this great report from Daan Dekeukeleire’s trip to Estonia in February. It looked very snowy and pretty and he saw 5 European Lynxes and 12 other mammal species including Elk and Roe Deer.
Zhou Fangyi’s report from Borneo has 25 mammal species, including the Philippine Slow Loris, Smooth-coated Otter and a “cryptic Pangolin”, a mysterious species of pangolin which some believe may be new…
Hugh Lansdown saw 41 mammal species on a trip to Uganda with Harrier Tours. Some highlights include Dwarf Mongoose, L’Hoest’s Monkey and Eastern Gorilla (and a great short documentary-style video of them!).
And the fourth and final trip report was Samuel Marlin’s from Dzanga Sangha, CAR! He saw a ton of great species, like Western Lowland Gorilla, Milne-Edward’s Potto and Lord Derby’s Anomalure, which sounds a bit like a euphemism for royal foot fungus. Fortunately for us all however, the resemblance ends at the name.
Speaking of foot fungus (or hopefully not), there has been a cancellation on this trip to Paraguay in September with Wild Chaco Expeditions and it is now 20% off… So why not join for a chance to see species like Giant Armadillo or Lowland Tapir!
Tomer is asking for a “non-mammalwatching friend” (that’s what we all say…) about seeing Red Pandas in Nepal, at Habre’s Nest or elsewhere, so please comment any advice you have!

Cover photo: “The ceremony of the 60th species” – Ellen Linton, William Lewis, Daniel Dahan and Jon Hall, taken by Regina Riberio. They are currently on a mammal expedition in Brazil and have clearly been doing much more important things than mammalwatching. For once, I approve. Especially as I’ve chosen to interpret this particular image as my father being used as sacrifice.
