Who wants to join a trip to South Africa to Marrick Safari for Aardwolves, Aardvarks, black-footed cats, sengis etc

Hi there

As an enthusiastic biologist and mammal watcher I am looking for a companion to go to Marrick Safari in Kimberley South Africa from the 20th of November until 27th of November.

Marrick Safari is famous for its night drives and potential species regularly seen there are: Aardvark, Aardwolf, Smith’s Red Rock Hare, Bat-eared Fox, Springhare, Scrub Hare, Porcupine, Hedgehog, African wildcat, and Striped polecat.

In addition, Marrick Safari offers a Sengi visit (elephant shrews).

During the day potential species during a game drive through the reserve are: the habituated meerkats, Greater Kudu, Eland, Blesbok, Gemsbok (Oryx), Black and Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Bontebok, Steenbok, Common Duiker, Burchell’s Zebra, Nyala, Mountain Reedbuck, Waterbuck, Impala as well as Black Impala, Springbok as well as Copper Springbok, Roan antelope, Sable antelope and Warthog.

In addition, I am in contact with two researchers from the Black-footed cat working group which have 5 collared black-footed cats in the Benfontein Nature Reserve who agreed to take me out for a night as the Benfontein Nature Reserve is just 25 min drive away from Marrick Safari.

For one day I also booked a birding guide to go to the close-by Mokala National park.

The whole trip if we are two persons is around 29’000ZAR / around 1600$ including:

7 night drives,

8 game drives during the morning and afternoon,

1 day in the Mokala national park,

2 sengi visits,

full board (3 meals, dinner on the 20th and breakfast on the 27th) and a single room (quite basic accomodation).

The flight from Johannesburg to Kimberley return is not included and around 130$.

If someone is willing to join please contact me sandra.heldstab@uzh.ch or +41797013190 for further details. Please only watsup me via phone (no phone calls) as I am from Switzerland. I am also happy if someone wants also just join a part of the whole stay. The transfer to Kimberley airport is 600 ZAR/ around 32 $ for both ways.

I hope to meet you in person in South Africa (-:

Best, Sandra
