The Weekly Recap
Hello and welcome back to the weekly recap!
It’s been a pretty quiet week, which started off with Ferenc Alpár Gothárd’s report from the recent SakerTours trip he led to Transylvania. They didn’t find any vampires (or vampire bats), but did find many beautiful Eurasian Lynxes to photograph, as well as Brown Bear and Western Roe Deer.
Next we have a great report from Hawaii by Luke Tassopoulos, with 8 species including Short-finned Pilot Whales, Pantropical Spotted Dolphins, Hawaiian Monk Seal and Hawaiian Hoary Bat.
The report of Royle Safaris’ trip to Borneo last August is here. with some classic highlights like Sabah Grey Langur, Borneo Orangutan, Sunda Pangolin and even a Banteng (a Royle Safaris first in Borneo), they also got an incredible sighting of a Sunda Clouded Leopard stalking a Malay Porcupine. This almost rivals our amazing Sunda Clouded Leopard sighting from last summer, which I am still not over. By which I mean not over the boredom of, of course… 😉
And the final trip report posted was of a Namibia mammal safari by Nature Travel Africa, written by Buzzy Joell. They saw an incredible 55 mammal species including some cool species like Pangolin, Black Rhino, Cape Clawless Otter and Black Mongoose!
This month’s episode of the Mammalwatching Podcast is out! As a chat with conservationists and primatologists Yvonne de Jong and Tom Butynski, currently in Kenya running the East African Primate Diversity and Conservation Program, it sounds really interesting. I will definitely be listening – especially as it starts with Charles and my dad telling the story of a recent epic fail they had in Florida (which, as we all know, is my favourite kind of story).
And finally, Ian Green would like some help differentiating between a Stoat or a Weasel, a question far more pressing to mammalwatchers than that of the meaning of life, the universe and everything. Especially as we all know by now that the answer to that is 42.

Thanks for reading:)
